3d Trilateration And Modeling

This ECE project aims to design and implement "3D TRILATERATION AND MODELLING",i.e., a 3D canvas on which the artist can draw using trilaterated coordinates. The system calculates the 3D coordinates of a point in space as per the user requirement accurately and reliably by an embedded system using sensors located at different distances. The received data is calculated to get the coordinates which is then finally transmitted to the computer where a custom program reads the data received. All the modules are strongly interacted to allow the artist to wave a transmitter (a user friendly setup or shape) around in space and see their movements translated into various projections on the computer and plots it into a 3D plane. The system would be ideal for 3D modeling and design and in a variety of fields. we wanted to build something that relied on many aspects of our education such as analog and digital circuits, signal processing, computer programming, peripheral communication, and high-level coding to name a few.

Gesture Recognition Using Accelerometer

This ECE Project discuss Gesture Recognition Using Accelerometer. The use of hand gestures provides an attractive alternative to cumbersome interface devices for human-computer interaction. The aim behind the project is to be able to sense the movement of a user's hand and to recognize the gestures using a gesture recognition algorithm. A simple inertial navigation sensor, accelerometer is utilized to get dynamic / static  profile of movement of the users hand. It gives the acceleration sensed by the device in each of the 3 axis. An ArduinoUNO R3 board is used for serial communication of this accelerometer data with the computer. Based on values from the accelerometer, hand movements are detected and classified into previously trained gestures. Discrete hidden Markov models form the core part of the gesture recognition system. Four test gestures have been defined and used to evaluate the performance of the application. An average recognition rate of over 70 percent was achieved. The processing of data and recognition of gestures was done in MATLAB.

On body sensors monitor the vital parameters (blood pressure, ECG, temperature and heart beat rate) and transmits the data to doctors end via wireless communication network. Periodic health monitoring (or preventative care) allows people to discover and treat health problems early, before they have consequences. Especially for risk patients and long term applications, such a technology offers more freedom, comfort, and opportunities in clinical monitoring.

Design and Analysis Of Wide-band Multiple Frequency Patch Antennas For Wlan Wimax Applications

In the near future, the development of the personal communication devices will aim to provide image, DMB (Digital Multimedia Broadcasting), video telephony, speech and data communications at any time-any where around the world using the WLANs (Wireless Local Area Networks). Rapid advances of various WLAN protocols have sparked the requirements for miniaturized multi-band antennas with suitable frequency bands appropriate for the Wi-Fi (IEEE 802.11 standard) and mobile WiMAX (IEEE 802.16e-2005 standard) applications. The demand for compact size, light weight and low cost antennas has increased in the recent years with the widespread deployment of wireless  communications, like the wireless local area networks (WLAN). In order to satisfy the IEEE 802.11 WLAN standards in the 2.4 GHz (2400-2484 MHz) speci fied by IEEE 802.11b/g /5.2 GHz (5150-5350 MHz)/5.8 GHz (5725-5825 MHz)speci ed by IEEE 802.11a operating bands and the worldwide inter operability for microwave access (WiMAX) 2.5/3.5/5.5 GHz(2500-2690/3400-3690/5250-5850 MHz) bands, multi-band antennas with low cost, compact size, easy fabrication and higher performance are required.


I2C (Inter-Integrated Circuit) is a multi master serial computer bus invented by Philips that is used to attach low-speed peripherals to a motherboard, embedded system, or cellphone. It is a two-wire, bidirectional serial bus that is Serial Data line(SDA) and Serial Clock line(SCL) which provides a simple, efficient method of data exchange between devices. It is primarily used in the consumer and telecom market sector and as a board level communications protocol and are most suitable for applications requiring occasional communication over a short distance between many devices. The I2C standard is a true multi master bus including collision synchronization and arbitration that prevents data corruption if two or more masters attempt to control the bus simultaneously.

Camera Equipped Mini UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle)

  Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) is an aircraft with no on board pilot. Instead, it is remotely controlled or can fly autonomously based on pre-programmed flight plans or more complex dynamic self thinking’ systems. While to some extent such unmanned aircraft resemble cruise missile, they differ that they return to base for further use once they have fulfilled their mission. Wilderness search and rescue (wisar) is a complicated problem requiring thousands of hours of search over large and complex terrains. Using mini uavs to support WiSAR has the potential to dramatically improve search efficiency UAVs are often categorized based on performance (linked often to size). There are several categorizations from producers, users and researchers.

DTMF Based Remote Control System

The human mind always needs information of interest to control system of his/her choice. In the age of electronic systems, it is important to be able to control and acquire information from everywhere. Although many methods to remotely control systems have been devised, the methods have the problems such as the need for special devices and software to control the system.This paper suggests a method of controlling devices using DTMF (Dual Tone Multi Frequency) tone generated when the user pushes mobile phone keypad buttons or when connected to remote mobile system. This system suggested consists of mobile phones normally registered in communication service and a system that can receive a call from another phone; also the mobile phone can be selected irrespective of the mobile phone model and mobile phone carrier. Here, we are developing a system with a PIC 16F877A Micro controller to control four relays that act as switch for four separate devices.

Sun Tracker Design and Implementation

Tracking is a fast growing area for research,industrial and engineering applications.Automatic Tracking Systems and their place in various applications like exploration ,industrial automation,navigation,safety enhancements and entertainments. Sun Tracking Systems can be developed to function as an aid in exploration endeavors,missions to areas inaccessible to human beings,and much more. It is a mechanism which tracks the sun throughout the day,thus optimizing the conversion of solar energy to optimal energy.As the sun rises from the east and  goes down in the west,the panels adjust accordingly to increase the efficiency of the solar panels. The single access tracking system is the simplest solution and the most common one used. Once the sun tracker system is turned on,it follows the sun generating highest light intensity in that region and constantly moves towards the location receiving the highest light intensity.
