EEE Seminar topic on Power Quality Issues in Power Systems in Power Systems.

Basic Requirements for Critical Loads are

  • Continuous, No Break in Power
  • Voltage Regulation
  • Sine wave Supply
  • Isolation
  • Constant Frequency

To ensure Power Quality, Supply Voltage at load must have fundamental component only. It should be balanced and should have declared magnitude under all conditions.

Common Power Quality Disturbances are

  • Reactive Power Demand
  • Harmonic Distortion
  • Voltage sags and swells
  • Under voltages and over voltages
  • Voltage Unbalance
  • Voltage Flicker
  • Voltage Notching
  • Voltage Interruption
  • Transient Disturbances
  • Frequency variations
